Lake Tahoe - Day Three (May 8, 2008)

While I was stuck in a seminar all day, Julene and the kids drove down into Reno to visit her old stomping grounds. The first stop was the old Waite home in Stonegate. It looks like the current owner cut down the forest grown by the prior owner, and added a small iron fence (maybe to keep out all the strange people who keep coming by and taking pictures of the house).

The driveway just didn't seem the same without a basketball hoop and the Beast.

Joshua had to get his picture by the Joshua Drive street sign around the corner from the Waite home.

Julene relived her glory days in her stop at Reno High School.

Five kids and twenty-four years after graduating from RHS, she looks better than ever.

Working backwards, Julene drove by Swope Middle School.

Roy Gomm Elementary School has seen better days, but still evokes fond memories.

Benjamin is wondering what this is all about, but he is content as long as he has his Soothie.

Angelina . . .

Joseph . . .

Allyse and Joshua were all excited to go swimming at Mommy's friend's house.

Julene reunited with Tamara and Kerri.

Lake Tahoe - Day Two (May 7, 2008)

On the second day of out trip to Lake Tahoe, we awoke to the majestic mountains surrounding Mammoth Lakes.

Due to a last-second change in plans, we were fortunate enough to stay at the Village at Mammoth Lakes. It was a beautiful hotel, with shops that encompassed the area, and a gondola that takes skiers directly to the ski resort.

The deck outside our hotel room overlooked the courtyard and pool area.

Joseph looked much more relaxed than the night before during the bear scare.

Dad could not pass up the opportunity to start taking pictures out on the deck.

Josh looked stoked to be missing school for a few days.

The family, minus Benjamin, who was still recovering from the previous night's ordeal.

The Sierra Nevada were incredible as we headed north on U.S. 395 toward Carson City.

Josh and Joseph were clowning for the camera in the back of the van, with Allyse taking the shot.

Allyse took a snap of Mono Lake as we zipped past.

We arrived in South Lake Tahoe just in time to check in at the Lakeland Village.

Lakeland Village is situated on the lakeshore at the foot of Heavenly Valley ski resort.

Two of the pools overlook Lake Tahoe.

Away from the shore, the condos felt like they were in the middle of a forest.

The main pool and spa became the favorite place for the kids to play while at Lake Tahoe.

After we checked in, Julene dropped me off at Harveys for the seminar that I had to attend. She and the kids drove to various points around South Lake Tahoe, with Allyse taking the photos. I can't imagine that I would have taken the picture of Raley's, but I included it since it seems to hold a special place in the hearts of the Waite family.

A smile returned to Angelina's face after being carsick and going through the bear scare the night before.

Angelina's Barbie Princess Party

The Ballard house was arrayed in pink in anticipation of
the femininity that was about to descend upon it.

What Barbie birthday would be complete without a Barbie cake?

The den was turned into a Barbie playroom with dozens of dolls and tons of accessories.
Julene set up various stations where Angelina's guests could make some crafts.
At this station, Allyse helped the little girls decorate their crowns and scepters.

Joseph helped the girls string together beautiful
necklaces made of precious Froot Loops
(or was he just sampling the goods).

The temptation of having the Barbie cake within reach grew too great.

Going, going, gone.

Before I could even start cutting the cake, Angelina had destroyed
part of it by picking at the "pinky" frosting.

Happy Birthday to You!

It Was Hair-raising!

Benjamin loves tummy time, most often opting to roll over rather than remain on his back.

I liked these pictures because they really highlight the flattop.

Benjamin is getting geared up for Angelina's birthday party.

Happy Birthday, Angelina!

April 24th was Angelina's third birthday. She woke up early wanted to open her birthday presents, which mostly revolved around Barbie, Dora the Explorer and the Disney Princesses. She was truly a happy little girl.

Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday!

The week long celebration that is known as Allyse's birthday reached its crescendo tonight with an all-star bash. Okay, we really just celebrated quietly today. After having a bunch of eight and nine-year-old girls over on Saturday, even Joseph, Benjamin and Angelina seem quiet. Allyse proclaimed it the best birthday ever.

Allyse looked like a princess on Sunday.

I finally got a picture of Benjamin smiling! Just kidding.

Allyse on the morning of her birthday.

Okay, I didn't give the boys a chance to fix their hair as I had to get going to work.

You know you're handsome when you have messy hair and still look good.

The birthday girl wore a new outfit to school and on a field trip.

Allyse went to Gilcrease Farms on a field trip and saw a bird sanctuary, thus the head gear.

Allyse's Enchanted Birthday Party

Allyse has been so enamored with the movie Enchanted that she decided
to make that the theme of her ninth birthday party.

Princess Allyse!

Julene helped the princesses get ready for the ball.

The princesses need to find their gowns.

Angelina found herself a pretty white gown.

The princesses are now ready for the ball . . .

but first they have to get a rose from their princes . . .

on their way to the grand ball.

A beautiful but evil sorceress named Narissa changed herself . . .

into an old hag and gave the princesses a poison apple.

The only way to wake up from the poison was to experience true love's kiss.

When the princesses awoke, Narissa changed herself into a powerful dragon,
which the princesses then had to slay.

The reward for slaying the dragon was the royal crown.

Allyse is thrilled to blow out the candles.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Paris Hilton dropped by to wish Allyse a happy birthday.
Actually, Allyse couldn't wait to wear her new sunglasses and purse.
